Keith Urban has spoken out against Stephen Colbert after The Late Show host took a shot at his single, Female, during an episode late last year.
Speaking in an interview on The Feed, Urban claims Colbert "threw me under the bus" instead of reporting on "friend" Louis CK, who made headlines with a string of sexual misconduct allegations that broke that day.
Last November, the New Zealand-born artist performed the single at the 2017 Country Music Awards, which drew attention as it was interpreted being directly about the Harvey Weinstein allegations.
That same week, Colbert mocked Urban's performance on The Late Show.
"One of the writers was asked in an interview about the writing of the song and that writer said, 'It's about Harvey Weinstein'," Urban said of Female.
"I read this and I'm like, 'That's not what I heard when I heard this song.' Anybody in the press world, it was a dream for them... the song got labelled all about that which was not why I recorded it."
"The issue I have with Steve Colbert is that Louis CK had issues that day that came out and instead of reporting on that, which is one of his friends, he throws a guy like me under the bus," Urban said.
"Literally because you're not gonna comment on your friend's issues... instead of doing that, you attack a guy like me for that song which I find just disgusting. So, that's how I feel about all of that."
