More than 50 Australian artists and music businesses will be backed by Sounds Australia when they head to Europe and the UK this month and next.

The export body will coordinate activities at the Netherlands' Classical:NEXT event, UK's The Great Escape, Spain's Primavera Pro and MIDEM.

In a first for an Australian artist at Classical:NEXT, pianist and sound designer Belle Chan will showcase at the event while Sounds Australia will coordinate network functions, trade stands and one-on-one 'speed' meetings.

Melbourne outfit Client Liaison have also been selected for the prestigious MIDEM Artist Accelerator, which will see them participate in a tailored program during the conference in Cannes next month, including networking, learning and coaching sessions.

Meanwhile, Sounds Australia will again host the world-renowned The Aussie BBQ  at The Great Escape in London this weekend, which will see performances from the likes of Stella Donnelly, Hockey Dad, RVG, Amyl & The Sniffers, City Calm Down, Ecca Vandal and The Kite String Tangle.

"We're constantly evaluating international markets and assessing the best opportunities for Australian artists and music industry," Sounds Australia Executive Producer, Millie Millgate, said.

"Our activity over the next month includes events like MIDEM and The Great Escape where we’ve been a fixture for many years, along with conferences like Classical:NEXT and Primavera PRO where we’re establishing a foothold.

"Wherever we go, we’re ensuring that Australian music is top of mind, and represented in the best possible way."
