The internet crumbled and healed in a space of 24 hours following the announcement that Brooklyn Nine-Nine had been axed by Fox, only to be picked up by NBC shortly after.
As Variety reports, NBC Entertainment Chairman Bob Greenblatt said he regretted selling the acclaimed comedy series to Fox back in 2013 after Andy Samberg (and NBC's Saturday Night Live alumni) was cast as the lead.
Creator Michael Schur also has close ties to NBC, having acted and served as Executive Producer on the network's US version of The Office and creator of The Good Place.
"We’re thrilled to have [Brooklyn Nine-Nine]," Greenblatt said.
"We think it fits into our brand of comedy in many ways better than it ever fit into the Fox brand of comedy."
NBC is now gearing up for a 13-episode sixth season of the show after an overwhelming response from fans following its cancellation by Fox.
"We love it when the fans yell and scream," Greenblatt added.
"We love it even more when they watch the show."
