Tonight Alive singer Jenna McDougall has revealed her health is the reason behind the band axing a show in Melbourne tonight.

After the Sydney outfit announced the gig at Arrow On Swanston has been cancelled due to "unforeseen circumstances", McDougall took to her personal Instagram account to explain.

"My health is the unforeseen circumstance for cancelling tonight's show," the post reads.

"I'm recovering from a really severe reaction to a herbal medication I started a few days ago. I've had a fever, heart palpitations, unbearable fatigue and a full body eczema breakout. I'm devastated.

"I never thought I'd feel like this again. There seems to be some improvement today but it was only hours ago I was shivering with every move and losing my vision and breath when I stood up."

Tonight Alive are currently scheduled to perform at Max Watt's in Melbourne tomorrow night.

Hey Melbourne. On the reals. My health is the unforeseen circumstance for cancelling tonight’s show. I’m recovering from a really severe reaction to a herbal medication I started a few days ago. I’ve had a fever, heart palpitations, unbearable fatigue and a full body eczema breakout. I’m devastated. I never thought I’d feel like this again. There seems to be some improvement today but it was only hours ago I was shivering with every move and losing my vision and breath when I stood up. Feeling very fragile and confused but optimistic. Riding some waves and thankful for your understanding and support of my “Honesty Project”. Got the big WHY? on my mind but just trusting the process. Don’t stress or worry for me ❤️ My beautiful boys are here @veegzy @thisisbigjig @matty_best @shanerawdonn and we’ll see you tomorrow at Max Watts xxx
