Melbourne musician and writer, Bram Presser has taken out three big awards at the NSW Premier's Literary Awards this week.
As ABC reports, Presser, who fronts punk rock outfit Yidcore, made a huge impression with his 2017 debut book, The Book Of Dirt; a quest by Presser to find out the truth about his family who moved to Melbourne after surviving the holocaust.
The book won the Christina Stead Prize for Fiction ($40,000), the UTS Glenda Adams Award for New Writing ($5,000) and the People's Choice Award at the ceremony held at the State Library of New South Wales on Monday.
Yidcore famously released the 2002 track, Why Won't Adam Sandler Let Us Do His Song?, in response to the US actor not giving the band permission to cover his comedy single, The Chanukah Song.
However the next year, the band released a punk cover entitled, The Punk Rock Chanukah Song, on their The Adam Slander EP.
