Mysterious posters featuring artwork that references Guns N' Roses 1987 debut Appetite For Destruction have appeared in Sydney and Melbourne, adding fuel to rumours that the band is planning a reunion tour with the original line-up.

The posters feature the likenesses of the founding members Axl Rose, Slash, Duff McKagan, Izzy Stradlin and Steven Adler, contain the hashtag #appititefordestruction and direct fans to GNR.FM.

The website details where else the teaser posters and billboards have been popping up around the world including North America, Japan, the UK, South America and Western Europe as well as Australia.

At the top of the page, there is also a countdown clock that is set to run out at 2pm AEST this Friday (4 May), indicating that this is when the mystery will be revealed.

Former GNR drummer Steven Adler, who will be touring Australia at the end of the month, posted a picture of one of the billboards to his Facebook this morning including the quote, "The five of us together made the greatest rock album of all time."

"I will always be proud of what we did together. I will see all of you down under in two weeks so we can pay tribute to Appetite for Destruction."

A mostly reunited GNR played shows in Australia last year, sans Adler and Stradlin, on the Not In This Lifetime world tour.

Tickets to Steven Adler's Australian tour are on sale now; for more information, head to theGuide.
