St Kilda Film Festival has pulled out all the stops for its 35th anniversary, today unveiling the full program for the May event which features local legend Tim Rogers, Aussie comedian Ryan Shelton, a slew of local music videos and more.
Australia’s longest running short film festival will return from 17 - 26 May, kicking off with a massive opening night at Palais Theatre, before featuring comedy, drama, music and more across 10 days.
The Story, which was filmed in St Kilda, stars Rogers and is about a man who “reflects on a time that he witnessed an emergency”, while Shelton and New Zealand's Michala Banas feature in comedy For Your Sins.
Local musos will be thrust under the spotlight once again as part of SoundKILDA, which will feature clips from the likes of Client Liaison, Montaigne, Flight Facilities, Peking Duck, and young talent will have a platform with the Under The Radar competition.
The festival will encompass one of Australia’s largest free filmmaker development programs, The Picture, with forums, workshops and more on offer.
“The selection of films in this year’s Festival represent the Australian filmmaking industry in all its glory – diverse, creative, talented and exciting,” City of Port Phillip Mayor Bernadene Voss said.
“We are proud to continue offering a platform for filmmakers and industry heavyweights alike to screen their works, while also providing education and development opportunities to the next wave of Australian filmmakers.”
There’ll also be a selection of virtual reality content this year, with punters able to watch short films and music videos while wearing a VR headset.
