With tickets to Splendour In The Grass 2018 completely selling out in less than 30 minutes this morning, it's only natural that some will search high and low online in an desperate attempt to secure their spot at the festival.

However, let this serve as a friendly reminder (or rather, a warning) that resale websites are not only a terrible option, but they can not even guarantee your tickets.

At the time of writing, no Splendour tickets have been listed on Viagogo website and punters are reminded that the official Splendour resale will launch at 9am on Monday 14 May.

Splendour organisers have also reiterated the point in a statement this morning, advising fans to stay away from unauthorised resellers.

"Splendour tickets include the name and date of birth of the ticketholder," the statement reads.

"This is checked against your ID at the festival gates. There is NO facility in place that allows a ticket holder to change the name and date of birth on a ticket and transfer it to another person."

Similar incidents occurred during Ed Sheeran's record-breaking stadium tour of Australia earlier this year, where some tickets were being resold by unauthorised sellers for up to $3,500 each.

The debacle led to revered Australian promoter Michael Gudinski calling for the government to address ticket scalping immediately.

"It needs to be dealt with nationally once and for all," Gudinski concluded.

"Seriously, it's just distraction after distraction. And you still go on the computer and you still see Viagogo on the top [referring to Google searches].

"I had hundreds of people didn't get into the Ed Sheeran show in Perth because of it and I feel terrible about it, but it's not my problem. It needs to be administrated."
