Brisbane's The Jungle Giants and Melbourne's RVG lead the pack with four nominations a piece, including nominations for Best Independent Album or EP.
Not far behind, Alex Lahey and Baker Boy are both up for three awards.
The 2018 awards will take place at Adelaide's Queen's Theatre on Thursday 26 July, adjacent to AIR's second annual Indie-Con Australia Conference at The Hindley on the 26 and 27 July.
