After teasing fans via a series of Instagram videos earlier this year, Gold Coast rising star Amy Shark has confirmed she has indeed been working on new music with Blink-182 royalty Mark Hoppus.

Appearing on The Music Podcast, Shark spoke of how the exciting collaboration came about, saying it “escalated quickly”.

"I was in Hawaii having a couple of days off and I came back to my phone and checked my Twitter messages and I had a message from Mark Hoppus saying, 'Hello Amy. My name is Mark. Hear you're a blink-182 fan, I'm a fan of yours. We have some friends in common... next time you're in LA, we should have a coffee.'

“When I came to... I said 'Hi Mark, this is fantastic. I'm in LA in a couple of days actually. So please, can this happen?'

"So we had coffee, spoke about music, I said I'm pretty knee-deep in my album right now, but God, I've got some demos that if you were interested in being a part of, I'd love that.”

Not wanting to reveal too much about the collaboration at this stage, Shark said what she has done with Hoppus is “very exciting” and that she “definitely got to work with him”.

A lot of fans were wondering what happened with Tom DeLonge and Shark, given talks of a potential collaboration between the two of them seemed to spark up prior to the one with Hoppus, but the Aussie singer said they haven’t recorded anything together yet.

“We are keeping that open and we talk a lot actually, which is great,” Shark said.
