It’s been a whirlwind 12 months for music in Australia, as reflected by the results of tonight’s APRA Music Awards in Sydney, with Paul Kelly, AB Original and Amy Shark among those who claimed prizes.
The coveted Song of the Year prize was bestowed to Kelly’s acclaimed single Firewood And Candles (co-written by The Ferrets’ Billy Miller), while AB Original, aka Briggs and Trials, walked away with the Songwriter of the Year award for their powerful debut album Reclaim Australia.
Peking Duk took out two awards, with Stranger named the Most Played Australian Work and Dance Work of the Year, as did M-Phazes, who was credited as co-writing Amy Shark’s Adore (Pop Work of the Year) and Illy’s Catch 22 (Urban Work of the Year).
