An Australian run of beloved stage production Billy Elliot has been announced in celebration of the tenth anniversary of the musical first Aussie run.
There will be plenty of chances to catch the performances, with the run beginning in Sydney during October 2019 before moving onto planned seasons in Melbourne from February 2020, Perth from June 2020, Brisbane from July 2020 and Adelaide from September 2020.
Back in 2007, Sydney was the first location to stage the production outside the UK, as show composer, Elton John, reminisces about the successful initial run which ended in 2009.
"I have very fond memories of the Sydney production in 2007 we found many incredibly talented children who would go on to carry the show through its successful Australian run," John said.
"It is truly the most heart-warming show and I am so grateful that new generations of Australians will continue to experience its joy and inspiration."
Since it's debut in London in 2005, the production has been seen by almost twelve million people worldwide and has picked up ten Tony Awards, five Olivier Awards and eight Helpmann Awards.
Ticketing and casting information for the run will be announced soon.
