Live broadcasting can be an unpredictable vocation, as triple j Group Music Director and presenter Richard Kingsmill found out when a blown router caused radio silence during last night's 2018 program.
As the last half hour of the show ticked down, listeners started hearing static and long periods of silence, as former triple j presenter Dom Alessio pointed out.
@triplejtheking Either it’s my car or the triple j transmitter in Sydney is down. All I wanted was some Kingsmill on my drive to the shops!

Kingsmill was quick on the case, explaining the situation to listeners.

"Apologies. We’ve blown a router," Kingsmill said.
"If I knew what one was, I would try to build it. But smarter people than me are trying to fix the massive transmission probs that some of you are now hearing."
This isn't the first time that a triple j broadcast has dropped unexpectedly. Last October, during The Preatures Like A Version cover of Arcade Fire's Everything Now, the transmission started to cut in and out due to unspecified technical issues.
Luckily, even with the hiccup, people reacted with amusement this time.
The Music has reached out to triple j for comment.

So we're not being invaded by Daleks? That's a relief.

You mean no more EDM Bangas? I migrate to @doublej a long time ago.
