Aussie comedian Rove McManus returned to the small screen last night with his new Channel Ten game show Show Me The Movie and the reviews are … mixed.
The Spicks & Specks-inspired show, featuring Offspring actress Jane Harber and comedian Joel Creasey, garnered a lukewarm reception from the public.
Featuring a ragtag group of panellists including Ten’s entertainment reporter Angela Bishop and comedian Frank Woodley, the show debuted behind Gogglebox at number nine on the nightly rankings, pulling in a modest audience of 545,000 viewers (as reported by TV Tonight).
Fans and foes have taken to Twitter since it’s airing to share their thoughts on Ten’s newest Rove vehicle.
Check out the reactions and a clip from last night's episode below.
I remember watching Spicks and Specks and thinking it would be cool if there was a movie version of this. Now that I’ve watched #showmethemovie I want to travel back in time & give my past self an uppercut for even thinking about it.

The audience members during the intro looked like they were there as part of their parole condition. #ShowMeTheMovie

Stop with the constant talking and the unfunny jokes and get on with it. #showmethemovie #rovemcmanus

It is great to see Rove back on tv. He is always good fun. I'm enjoying both of the team captains too. ##ShowMeTheMovie

Tripe show won’t be on air in 2 weeks

I’ve reconsidered my original confusion with #ShowMeTheMovie now it’s over, I’m positive now that it was really bad, sloppy & low brow. Rove needs to watch Hard Quiz and learn.

#ShowMeTheMovie Can't say we'll be watching next week. Rove gets in the way, interrupts and talks too much, e.g. interview with Scott Eastwood. The show has potential but needs tightening up and please sit the compere down.

Great show, Rove! It helps fill the hole that Burgo's Catchphrases left @thejohnburgess

It's a miss for me, sadly. Didn't nail the quiz show format, the questions were slow and ambiguous. Not enough quality film trivia. Could have used less jokes and had a seasoned film expert or two on one of the teams.
