Ed Sheeran’s first Brisbane concert last night ended in confusion as concert-goers were left stranded by scheduled train trackwork.

Punters heading north on the Caboolture/Sunshine Coast and Redcliffe line from Suncorp Stadium were hit with massive delays as buses replaced trains between Northgate and Petrie Stations due to scheduled maintenance.

TransLink announced the closures two months before the gig, issuing a warning that the train lines would be down from 9.30am until first service the following morning.

Despite TransLink advising that travellers should add an hour onto their journey time, there have been reports from of concert-goers waiting up to three hours to be bused between stations, throwing up concerns for the upcoming Commonwealth Games.

“Three hours to get home. It’s like QR decided what’s the best to set a low bench and manage expectations for comm games,” Karen Whalley wrote on Facebook.

“Do an amateurish attempt at everything and commonwealth games inaptitude may go unnnoticed (sic).”

As is typical with Suncorp Stadium gigs, parking in the surrounding areas was severely restricted.
