From humble beginnings back in 2013, Psych Fest has become one of Australia’s most beloved indie events, shining a spotlight on all things modulated, reverberated, fuzzed out and delayed year after year.

Five years on and the Sydney-born party will venture to Melbourne for the first time with a diverse line-up that includes international headliners and a slew of local legends across both shows.

Here are five reasons to hit up Psych Fest 2018.

New Candys

All the way from Italy, 2018 headliners New Candys will make their Australian debut at Psych Fest. The alt-rock band will bring their latest LP, Bleeding Magenta, along for the ride as they celebrate 10 years in the game.

Flavor Crystals

Minneapolis outfit Flavor Crystals will also be making the trip Down Under for the first time ever, bringing with them a healthy mix of ‘60s psych, ‘70s kosmische, ‘80s post punk and ‘90s indie/shoegaze, all channelled through four acclaimed records.

Moaning Lisa

Canberra indie punk rock at its finest. Their latest single, January’s Carrie (I Want A Girl), has set them up for a big year.

The Demon Parade

Melbourne’s The Demon Parade are loud and ferocious, but still thoughtful and subtle. They’ve honed their live show into a powerful experience via relentless gigging.

Julia Why?

Julia Why? haven’t slowed down for a second since the release of 2015’s Wheel record and their subsequent triple j Unearthed NIDA win. They play ‘90s/’60s-inspired femme-driven indie rock with a punk undercurrent. Their new album is set for release this year.

The festival has also organised all ages opening night events in each city.
