Wollongong surf rockers Hockey Dad have cracked the top 10 on the Aus charts with their new album, Blend Inn, and made history in the process.
The local legends debuted at #6, making them the first-ever band from Windang to do so. The high placing also sees them shoot past the efforts of their 2016 debut, Boronia, which peaked at #55.
Back in 1995, fellow Wollongong outfit Tumbleweed, from the small town of Tarrawanna, peaked at #6, with their sophomore effort, Galactaphonic.
The Music described the duo’s new record as a “pivotal moment” in what is hopefully a long road.
Looking further up the Albums Chart, it’s soundtrack city, with The Greatest Showman holding onto first place, followed by Black Panther debuting at #2, while Fifty Shades Freed claims fourth place.
British indietronic outfit and The Wombats have managed to swoop into #5 with their latest offering, Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life, and other notable debuts come from Adam Eckersley & Brooke McClymont (#16), Franz Ferdinand (#28) and MGMT (#31).
Over on the Singles Chart, Drake’s God’s Plan holds steady at #1, while Rudimental’s Jess Glynne, Macklemore and Dan Caplen collab, These Days, moves up to #2, and there’s new music from Marshmello & Anne Marie, Migos and Missy Higgins.
