Hockey Dad Set To Make History On ARIA Chart This Week With New Album

Aussie rockers Hockey Dad are set to make history when their new album Blend Inn debuts on the ARIA Albums chart this week. 

According to midweek figures, the duo are gunning for a top ten finish on the chart; not only will it be the band's highest-ever debut (after 2016 debut Boronia peaked at #55), but they'll also be the first band from Windang, Wollongong, to achieve the impressive feat. 

While solo Wollongong artists such as Natalie Bassingthwaighte (who also charted Melbourne's Rogue Traders) and Anthony Warlow have also achieved ARIA chart success, Hockey Dad will be one of the only bands from the NSW seaside city to crack the top ten since Tumbleweed's 1995 sophomore effort, Galactaphonic, peaked at #6.

Other albums debuting on the chart this week include the Black Panther soundtrack and The Wombats' Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life (both expected to land in the top three), the Fifty Shades Freed soundtrack (top ten), Adam Eckersley & Brooke McClymont's Adam & Brooke, Franz Ferdinand's Always Ascending (both top 20) and MGMT's Little Dark Age (top 30).

The race to #1 is expected to include The Greatest Showman soundtrack which has held strong in top spot for six straight weeks.

Over on the Singles chart, Drake is again the favourite for #1 with God's Plan, but it's likely Rudimental's These Days ft. Jess Glynne, Macklemore and Dan Caplen will contend as it moves up into the top three. 

Other tracks debuting on the list this week are Migos' Stir Fry (top 40) and Marshmello & Anne Marie's Friends (top 50).
