Perth rising star Stella Donnelly has taken out the Otherside International Development Grant and pocketed herself a tidy sum to aid in touring costs.
Now in its second year, the grant awards $2,500 in financial assistance to a Western Australian artist to go towards international touring. Donnelly will use her prize to get to her showcase at Austin’s iconic SXSW festival.
“Thank you so much to Otherside for awarding me this grant,” Donnelly said.
“I’m super grateful and can’t wait to get across to Austin, Texas.”

Otherside director David Chitty praised Donnelly for her fierce debut EP Thrush Metal that tackled the trials of being a millennial woman.
“We’re huge fans of Stella and all she’s achieved,” Chitty said.
“Stella is not only documenting but also really leading the charge on vital social issues, including genuine gender equality – and calling out the hypocrisy. We look forward to following the next phase in her huge career.”
Otherside will award three more Australian Tour Grants in 2018, valued at $5,000 a piece, applications close at 5pm WST, Friday 16 February. To enter, head over to the Otherside website.
