It was announced this afternoon that Peter Chellew, Executive Officer of Victoria’s peak youth music agency, The Push, will be moving on after 15 years in the position.
Starting with the program in 2003, Chellew guided The Push through new skills development programs, including highly-praised music mentoring programs that have kick-started the career of more than 1,000 young musicians and music industry hopefuls.
“It has been an honour to help young people achieve their goals in music - so many Push graduates have gone on to have successful music careers and to take up senior roles in our industry,” Chellew said.
"The Push has a talented team in place and amazing support from the music community. With its 30th Anniversary just around the corner, the future looks bright for The Push.”
Chellew also spearheaded the Face The Music summit as its Director, leading it to become Victoria’s flagship annual music conference over the last nine years.
The Push Chairperson Darren Sanicki detailed the immeasurable impact Chellew’s work has had on the organisation and the Australian music industry over the last decade and a half.
“Peter has made a remarkable contribution to The Push over the past 15 years,” Sanicki said.
"The organisation, staff and those young people who have worked alongside Peter during those years are forever indebted to Peter for his guidance, foresight and dedication to The Push, the benefits of which will be with us for many years to come.”
