An aspiring Soundcloud rapper has been linked to the serial shooting of nine people over three weeks in the US city of Phoenix.

As reported by The Guardian, shell casings, DNA and stolen jewellery tied Cleophus Cooksy Jr, who recorded and produced music under the name King Playbola, to the murders.

The seven men and two women, including Cooksey’s mother, were shot between 27 November and 17 December last year.

Cooksey was arrested for the shooting deaths of her mother and stepfather last December and has since been jailed on two counts of first-degree murder.

The rapper has previously served 16 years in prison for manslaughter and had been freed just 18 months prior.
