While the debate rages on regarding the Hottest 100 date change and Cory Bernardi's laughable protest playlist, a Melbourne music PR company is taking its own stand.

Brunswick-based agency, Deathproof PR, has confirmed that it will not be taking the 26 January public holiday off and that it will be business as usual.

Speaking to The Music, Deathproof's Emily Kelly said closing the office on Australia Day "just didn't feel right".

"The discourse around Australia Day and it's true meaning has changed dramatically in the last twelve months, and we just straight up don't feel comfortable celebrating a day that is associated with so much hurt and suffering to indigenous Australians," Kelly said.

"Deathproof will likely close to celebrate our awesome, diverse country on May 8 (maaaaate) or, like, ANY OTHER DATE."
