The feature-length documentary based on Jimmy Barnes announced last year is confirmed to be getting a theatrical release before it eventually screens on Channel Seven.
Though a release date is yet to be announced, the Screen Australia-funded project, titled Working Class Boy, is to hit cinemas through Universal Pictures in 2018.
Based on the Aussie legend's 2016 memoir, Working Class Boy, the documentary will be played from Barnes' point of view and tells the story of his childhood survival in the slums of Glasgow, moving to Australia and joining Cold Chisel.

Currently being filmed in Adelaide and Glasgow, the documentary will also feature live performances from Barnes, as well as interviews with friends and family.
"With my colleagues from leading Australian production house, CJZ, the film features family and friends who have been close to Jimmy throughout his tumultuous life including some of Australia’s most talented musicians," director and co-producer, Mark Joffe, told The Music.
"And the music featured will be something to remember. We have all been inspired by Jimmy’s candour and honesty and are confident that the cinematic journey that takes us from Scotland to Australia and back again will have a significant and lasting impact on an audience from all walks of life.
"Working Class Boy is the story of arguably our greatest rock star and an emotional ride like no other."
Meanwhile, Barnes will embark on a 30-date tour of the country next March in support of his new memoir; for a look at all of the dates, click on theGuide.
