UPDATE:
ABC have reported that two men have been questioned and released without charge following the fire at Discovery on the weekend.
A man has been arrested for allegedly lighting a fire at Darwin's Discovery music venue over the weekend, which resulted in more than 500 people being forced to evacuate.
As ABC reports, the venue was evacuated at around 2am on Sunday morning.
Police were able to track down the man using CCTV footage and identification-scanning technology.
"Discovery nightclub had about 500 patrons in there before some staff and patrons noticed some smoke coming from the laundry area," Police Duty Superintendent James O'Brien said.
"The staff attended there and they found a fire and they put out the fire themselves, which was fantastic.
"Reviewing the CCTV footage, we've discovered that it appears that someone's pushed a trolley or something similar up against the external laundry door, and it appears that at this stage that they purposely set that alight."
The man is expected to be charged today.
It is reported an estimated $50,000 worth of damage was made at Discovery following the fire, however it is expected to re-open on Friday night.
A number of big-name acts have performed at Discovery in recent times, including British India, Sean Kingston and Tigerlily, while In Hearts Wake and Thundamentals are scheduled to play there in the coming months.
