The Weeknd has cut ties with clothing brand H&M following a recent advertisement that has been widely slammed as offensive and racist.
As TMZ reports, the Canadian songwriter took to Twitter today to address the advertisement, which shows a young African-American child wearing a hoodie with the caption, "Coolest Monkey in the Jungle".
"Woke up this morning shocked and embarrassed by this photo," The Weeknd tweeted.
"I’m deeply offended and will not be working with @hm anymore..."

"We sincerely apologise for offending people with this image of a printed hooded top," a statement release by the Swedish-founded company reads.
