The diversity and strength of Australia’s county music scene has been highlighted via the 2018 Golden Guitar Awards nominees announcement, led by local legends Kasey Chambers and The McClymonts scoring six nominations each.
With an ARIA nomination in the bag for Best Country Album, Chambers is now also vying for Female Artist Of The Year, Alt Country Album Of The Year and Collaboration Of The Year for her work on Hey with Paul Kelly, among other awards, while The McClymonts chase Contemporary Country Album Of The Year, Song Of The Year and more.
Also up for six awards is Travis Collins & Amber Lawrence, whose first collaborative record, Our Backyard, is paying off big time.
Other acts to score multiple nominations include The Bushwackers, Lee Kernaghan, Shane Nicholson, and The Davidson Brothers.
“Today’s finalists’ announcement has demonstrated the quality and depth of talent we have in Australian country music across a range of genres, with many artists receiving their first nomination and others multiple nominations,” Country Music Association of Australia chairman Dobe Newton said.
There’s also been two new Album Of The Year categories introduced - Contemporary Country Album Of The Year and Traditional Country Album Of The Year.
