BIGSOUND 2010 Line-up Gets Bigger: New Speakers and Live Artists Announced BIGSOUND 2010 continues to grow with more world-class speakers and artists joining the conference and festival line up in Brisbane this September 8-10. Leading the newest batch of BIGSOUND 2010 speakers is one of the most important artists Brisbane has produced – Ed Kuepper. Starting his career with genre-defining punk outfit The Saints, Kuepper went on to release a string of critically acclaimed records with The Laughing Clowns and as a solo artist. More recently Kuepper was recruited as one of Nick Cave’s Bad Seeds – making this rare opportunity to hear him speak at BIGSOUND 2010 all the more special. Also in the new list of speakers is leading digital music specialist Jonas Woost. Based in Vancouver, the German native is former head of music with leading online service Last.FM and has worked for an impressive batch of high-profile labels worldwide including dance music leaders Ministry of Sound. Tim Dellow, co-founder of UK label Transgressive Records that’s home artists including Foals, The Subways and Regina Spektor, will be heading to BIGSOUND 2010. More than just a label owner, Dellow has moved into management and publishing, and is now director of Rockfeedback – a music TV media company, live promoters and online music magazine. They will be joined at BIGSOUND 2010 by Editor-In-Chief of Australian Rolling Stone Mathew Coyte, Rod Kukla, A&R with American Recordings – the label headed by iconic US producer Rick Rubin – and LA-based Australian artist Simon Lewicki who has released records under the Groove Terminator moniker and scored a number one Billboard hit as Chili Hifly. Also making the trip to Brisbane in September will be Mark T Grose from arguably the country’s most respected and successful indigenous music company Skinnyfish Music. With more to be announced, these speakers add to an already bumper conference line-up that will feature leading industry figures from around Australia and the world including journalist and author Michael Azerrad (USA), Chairman of The Mushroom Group of Companies Michael Gudinski, and BIGSOUND 2010 keynote speaker John O’Donnell (Odfellows Publishing / Cold Chisel management). Meanwhile, the BIGSOUND Live line up expands with the addition of Bridezilla, The Gin Club, Hungry Kids of Hungary, Ernest Ellis, Fire! Santa Rosa, Fire!, The Holidays, The Jezabels, Parades, Stiff Gins and Bonjah. BIGSOUND Live, the live music component of BIGSOUND 2010, brings an urban music festival to Fortitude Valley with six venues, including two outdoor stages, hosting 60 of the country’s most exciting acts across three nights. The new BIGSOUND Live artists join Children Collide, Boy & Bear, The Vasco Era, The John Steel Singers and Last Dinosaurs – with dozens more to be announced in the coming weeks. This year, from the festival that keeps on giving, BIGSOUND 2010 partners with Valley Fiesta. Brisbane's largest street festival, Fiesta’s weekend of live music and more kicks off on Friday September 10 as the BIGSOUND 2010 program officially winds down. BIGSOUND 2010, an initiative of peak industry body Q Music, is proudly supported by the Queensland Government through a major sponsorship by Trade and Investment Queensland and through Arts Queensland.
