The John Butler Trio return centre stage following a global April Uprising!....With Special Guests Blue King Brown The John Butler Trio have spent the past few months on a gruelling schedule to release their new ‘APRIL UPRISING’ album simultaneously in eleven markets around the world, the JBT’s fifth studio release has garnered incredible global respect and success. With much anticipation for a live experience from JBT at home, their cherished Australian fans need wait no more as the band is pleased to announce their national APRIL UPRISING TOUR of Australia taking place in August and September with tickets on sale on Monday May 31st . The APRIL UPRISING TOUR will see John and his new band mates Nicky Bomba (drums and percussion) and Byron Luiters (bass) visit all capital cities and a host of major regional centres around the country. It will be their largest Australian tour since the release of the multiple platinum selling album ‘Sunrise Over Sea’ in 2004. The John Butler Trio’s ‘APRIL UPRISING’ album debuted at number one on the Australian national ARIA albums chart on April 5th. It’s the band’s third consecutive album release to enter the charts at number one here in Australia and the first Billboard Top 100 entry for the band with a debut at number 36 on the USA Billboard chart week of release there. It also debuted at number 8 on the USA digital charts and number 4 on the US independent labels charts. Across the Tasman the album came in at number 17 on the New Zealand charts. France charts reported the album in at number 27 and number 8 on the digital charts. ‘APRIL UPRISING’ has proven to be the JBT’s most successful release ever in Canada, UK and Japan. The John Butler Trio is confirmed to perform on the USA’s highly rated The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on May 25th. ‘APRIL UPRISING’ has received the best reviews to date at a global level for the band. They’ve already completed a sell out tour through the UK and Europe headlining major theatres and have just commenced their most ambitious run of dates in the USA including a 8000 capacity show at the prestigious Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado made famous by U2 in the DVD “Under A Blood Red Sky” and a 5500 capacity show at New York’s Central Park Summer Stage. They will also be playing many summer festivals through Canada and Europe and the main stage at the Fuji Rock Festival in Japan in July. The band’s current single ‘Close To You’ maintains airplay dominance in the Australian market sitting in the Top 10 on the national airplay chart. Special guests BLUE KING BROWN will open proceedings at all shows delivering their now world renowned power packed live performance. Hailed by Santana as “The voice of the street and the band of the future!", performing tracks from their highly anticipated new album, "WORLDWIZE" due for release Aug 2010.
